Shellac!

I'll admit...this picture of my hands is really weird looking.  They look like old lady hands...so wrinkly! And...my polish is not black!  It is a brownish, purple that sparkles in the sun!  But, that isn't the point of this post.  The point is my manicure that is a 2-3 week lasting manicure!  Usually, I pay $20 for a manicure that lasts about 8 hours and then begins chipping and peeling.  This is a new type of manicure called a shellac manicure.  It doesn't damage your nails, but is long lasting!  Here is the process:

Base Coat (UV light for 1 min)

Color Coat 1 (UV light for 2 min)

Color Coat 2 (UV light for 3 min)

Top Coat (UV light for 3 min)

A quick wipe of the nails with alcohol

And VOILA!  Nails are dry and ready to go!

And...the best part is that it only cost $30!  I'll keep you posted on the progress.  So far...3 days in and no chips!  It is looking promising for sure!  

Belated Celebration

We FINALLY got to go to the Melting Pot to celebrate Valentine's day.  Last week was super hectic between our work schedules and social events.  We were supposed to go last Friday, but unfortunately I woke up with some type of nasty stomach bug that lasted a good 24 hours.  As soon as I recovered, Mark picked up right where I left off.  It was lovely around here for a good 72 hours!  I will spare you all the beautiful details...So, last night we went to the Melting Pot and feasted on delicious cheese, meat, salad, fruit and chocolate!  It was a blast and a much needed "date" night!!!!

The Real Housewives of the Army

Last week, our Brigade participated in the Denim and Diamonds event for the Lewis Spouses Club.  Our theme this year was the Real Housewives.  We added an extra spin on the theme and each battalion represented a different post around the Army.  We had cowgirls from Fort Hood, Starbucks lovers from Fort Lewis, glamorous girls who love to shop in Manhattan from Fort Drum, Southern Belles from Fort Stewart, ski bums from Fort Carson and beach bums from Hawaii.  We had a blast interpreting our different posts and we won!  Not only did we win the best theme, we also won the prize for bringing the most donations for the Fischer House, which is really what the night was all about!

Overall, the night was a success and as usual I had a wonderful time with my sweet Army friends!  

Bieber Fever

Yes, we did pay money to see this gem of a movie...in 3D!  Actually, it was really cute and heartwarming.  Justin Bieber is a cute little kid with amazing talent and most of all it was some quality time with one of my most favorite Army wives!  

The Crazy Girl

2 times in the past two weeks I have really gone out of the way to embarrass myself!
Situation 1:  I was driving through Dupont, when I spotted a vehicle in front of me with a Double T sticker on their car.  (Back up: a month ago I met a fellow Red Raider who lives in Dupont)  I have no clue what type of vehicle my new "friend" drives, but I automatically assumed that this had to be her.  So...I followed her for a good 10 minutes out of my way.  I don't drive a stealthy car.  I'm pretty sure this person was getting concerned as a bright red H3 is tailgating her obnoxiously.  I followed this unknown Red Raider all the way into her alleyway behind her house.  As she pulled into her garage I honked and waved and rolled down my window.  She stepped out of the car...looked at me oddly...and I very confidently said "Whoops, I thought you were my friend, Erica!".  She wasn't amused...I explained that I also went to Texas Tech and noticed her sticker...blah blah blah....and then quickly drove away.

Situation 2:  Today, I went to the post office.  My friend's husband drives a very massive red and white truck.  This baby is old and big!  You can't miss it!  I saw the truck come rolling up and I waved and smiled as big as I could and waited for him to exit his vehicle to chat with me.  And then...a strange man got out of the car...Either he stole this truck or there are 2 large red/white trucks in this area.  I tucked my head down quickly, hopped in the non-stealthy H3 and drove away.

So, now there are 2 people in Dupont who think I am crazy!  Or just extra friendly!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love LOVE!  I know that today is just a silly Hallmark holiday, but seriously...who doesn't love being loved and letting people know that they love them.  Also, ladies...it is a day to get spoiled!  Anyway, this year we are keeping it low key...I have to work tonight, I have a dinner to go to tomorrow, I work Wednesday...so, we are celebrating our LOVE on Friday night at The Melting Pot!  I'm super excited!  My thoughtful husband even picked me out the cutest little black dress for me to wear on our special night out!

Unfortunately, it was a wee bit small, so the slightly larger size will be arriving before our date!  Even if you don't have a significant other, that doesn't mean that you can celebrate LOVE!  So, get out there and show your mom, dad, brother, sister, friend, aunt, cousin or whoever how much you love them!

Valentine's Cookies!

The Valentine's Day baking has begun!  My Kitchen Aide mixer runs a lot more than my washing machine these days!  I've been battling a stupid cold/sinus infection the past few days, so what better way to recover than to heat the oven to 350 and start baking!  

I've never been a fan of the little conversation hearts, but I'm a huge fan of these little cookie bites!

Well, another sweet Army wife will shortly be leaving and moving on to their next post. :(

Luckily, she had a birthday last week, so it was a great excuse to get together...eat cupcakes...and have girl time!

I enjoyed this heavenly morsel!  Yes, I am still on WW and Yes, it was lots of points...and YES!  It was totally worth it!  

Sweet girls!  No one else is allowed to move!  Seriously!
